Well, I'm really glad I read this. I also pretty much never use dialogue in my cartoons, because I'm no good at writing either. Pretty much anytime I use dialogue, it's either because it sounds slightly funny, or just because I see an opportunity to (even though now that I think about it, it's never exactly neccesary at those points. Unless it's just for timing or something.) I thought it was a weakness, too, especially having done a series that went overboard with a lack of explanation (half the time, I myself would forget what was going on in the story.) and was begging for dialogue. I guess making the visuals tell a story is something I need to work on.
This kinda reminds me of something my teacher had us do once in school, that had to do with finding out whether we're "visual" or "verbal" learners.
